Aspirational Mentors

Solent University is working with City College on a new peer mentoring initiative to raise the aspirations of college and school students. This is being funded by the Southern Universities Network (https://www.sunoutreach.org/).

We are looking to recruit 10 peer mentors, ideally who went to school in Southampton, to be trained as peer mentors to work with students at City College.

Responsibilities

  • This will involve travelling and mentoring at City College as well as here at Solent for up to 30 hours.
  • You will be paid £8.25 p.h.to include training, preparation, mentoring, travel time and attendance at events.
  • This may involve some hours working in early evenings.
  • This is a fixed term position from October to December, but this is a new initiative that may be extended into 2019 with additional hours.

About You

  • You will be enthusiastic, a good communicator and keen to help and inspire others to realise their potential.
  • You may have been part of Aim Higher yourself, or been mentored at college - but this isn’t a pre-requisite, what we’re really looking for are students who would like to make a positive impact on a young person’s life.
