Job Description:

Re:So is a student supplied and student managed retail space in the centre of the city. Re:So was created in 2012 and is a part of Southampton Solent University. We are currently looking for Work Based Learning Event Staff. This is an area that Re:So wish to expand upon this year.

Re:So hosts and is involved in events across the year and the events staff will help to prepare these events by working with the Senior Lecturer and Re:So’s Marketing and Promotions Manager. Preparation includes generating ideas for the structure of the event, looking into costings and where appropriate, stock.  We welcome ideas from staff for new events to promote Re:So and generate footfall in the store across the year.  The events staff will work at the events, helping them to run smoothly, serving customers (when product is for sale), checking visual standards of the event, talking to customers and Open Day guests about Re:So and noting feedback from visitors to share with the Senior Lecturer and Re:So team.

Previous events have included:

  • Collaboration with Dr Martens – exhibition of student customised boot in-store with a launch evening
  • Networking event for businesses
  • Open Days and Applicant Days at The Spark throughout the year (weekends)
  • Fashion shows in Re:So
  • Trading at Common People Festival in Southampton and Clothes Show Live in Birmingham
  • Annual Illustration fundraiser evening at Re:So
  • Unit/course based charity events with bands and speakers

Future events include:

  • Trading at Victorious Festival in Southsea (August 2018)
  • Seasonal clothes swaps
  • Open Days and Applicant Days at The Spark throughout the year (weekends)
  • Fresher’s Fayre at Southampton Guildhall (September 2018)
  • Welcome Week activities hosted at Re:So (September 2018)

Duties include:

  • Liaising with the Store Manager, Marketing and Promotions Manager and Senior Lecturer on event ideas and organisation
  • Preparation for events
  • Setting up and taking down event collateral
  • Working at the events
  • Working as part of the Re:So team by opening and closing the store, setting up and closing down tills, recording sales and greeting customers
