GRADUATE ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - SOUTHAMPTON

We are currently seeking to appoint a Graduate Electrical Engineer, to join our Graduate Program, based from our Design Studio at our Head Office in Southampton. You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers, initially responsible for the production of design deliverables for water, wastewater and biosolids treatment plants. You will be reporting into the Senior Electrical Design Engineer and will be assigned a mentor, to advise on the required techniques to complete design engineering functions. As you progress you will be responsible for elements of design, taking greater responsibility for your work.  Continual professional development including professional registration is encouraged and actively supported.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Management of project specific design deliverables
  • Carrying out detailed design in accordance with M&E Design TEL Quality Procedures
  • Interpreting and understanding client requirements from client documents (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)
  • Site surveys of existing assets
  • Optioneering and feasibility studies
  • Production of procurement specifications for electrical equipment and production of detailed design construction drawings
  • Providing design assistance to installation and commissioning teams
  • Review of vendor data and drawings for all electrical equipment and package plant, motor control centres, power distribution panels and field equipment panels
  • Managing internal/external project specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager
  • Undertaking and checking of design calculations including modelling of the complete power system (AMTECH)
  • Preparation of drawings for CAD production, in accordance with the TEL QA procedures
  • Production of electrical scope and works enquiry submission documents
  • Undertake design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals
  • Preparing detailed electrical specifications
  • Preparing the production of single line and block cable diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, cable schedules, equipment schedules, telemetry schedules, instrument schedules and I/O listings
  • Record and document all design changes through to completion and issue of ‘As Built’ documents
  • Liaise with clients and subcontractors

Qualifications/Competency

  • BEng (Hons) or MEng Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge and awareness of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and CAD packages
