Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cloud based BigData solutions using latest technologies, such as MongoDB
  • Setting expectations and features priorities throughout development life cycle
  • Determining design methodologies and tool sets
  • Completing programming using languages and software products
  • Designing and conducting tests
  • Define product objectives by analysing user requirements
  • Envisioning system features and functionality
  • Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development
  • Purchase or open source alternatives
  • Integrate applications by designing database/BigData architecture and server scripting
  • Studying and establishing connectivity with network systems and information servers
  • Complete product development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities
  • Contributing to team meetings
  • Troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms
  • Support users by developing documentation and assistance tools
  • Update job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products
  • Participating in educational opportunities
  • Reading professional publications
  • Maintaining personal networks
  • Participating in professional organisations
  • Enhance organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests

About You

  • Computing / IT related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (MIN 1st Class)
  • A strong technical background – passion for software development
  • Strong programming and design skills
  • Java, J2EE experience
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with OO Design and programming
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good knowledge and experience with the following technologies:
    • JMX
    • BigData
    • MongoDB
    • ANT
    • XML
    • JSON
    • Jenkins (Hudson)
    • Nexus
    • install4j
    • Groovy
    • Grails
    • Gradle
    • SVN
  • Strong testing skills and experience with automated testing tools and environments
  • Exposure to and an understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS): Amazon (AWS)
  • Perfect written and spoken English
  • A great interest in designing and building software solutions
  • Experience developing consumer and/or commercial applications
  • Good visual design skills
  • Ability to turn a technical solution into a user friendly product
  • A great willingness to try new things / ideas together with a steep learning curve
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to adapt well into a small but advanced team
  • Excellent team player
