An accredited and qualified counsellor (minimum level 2) who is available to support individuals who are struggling with their gender and/or sexual identity or any related issue.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and promote a positive relationship with the service user
  • Have good listening and communication skills
  • Be non-judgemental in approach and trained in person-centred therapy
  • Manage appropriate professional boundaries
  • Be consistent and dependable
  • Maintain confidentiality and other policies and procedures
  • Work in conjunction with the chairperson to provide a quality service
  • Maintain records for monitoring, evaluation, tracking and service evaluation and occasionally may be required to share on a professional basis with NHS services
  • Participate in regular support and supervision meetings
  • Take responsibility for own professional training and development
  • Keep up to date with development in the field of counselling

About You

  • Degree or diploma in counselling (minimum level 2)
  • Interest in and commitment to all LGBT+ people
  • Understanding and ability to support those who are ‘coming out’ or ‘transitioning’
  • A good communicator
  • Ability to listen sensitively
  • Ability to provide confidential support
  • Ability to travel around the South Hampshire area as required
