The main aim of Newsletter Editor Volunteer is to collate and present information in order to maximise and to promote ourselves as widely as possible to our subscribers within the local and wider communities.

Responsibilities

  • Promote aims of Kroma, activities, events and achievements of Kroma using social media
  • Help create and maintain a newsletter plan keeping our subscribers updated on a frequent basis and select relevant channels to reach our stakeholders and diverse audiences
  • Attend meetings and liaise with all volunteers to find out stories
  • Track the effectiveness of the newsletter and recommend ways forward, testing content and reviewing its impact
  • Keeping up to date with Kroma events and news and choosing what to promote
  • Develop publicity materials and communication techniques to target LGBT+ communities who are under-represented
  • Visit our projects and attend our events with view to writing articles about them
  • Discuss common concerns and issues that may be raised from outside sources, e.g. press and social media etc
  • Signpost and support individuals to relevant organisations
  • To encourage reporting of all hate crime incidents and notify as per Hate Crime Policy
  • To notify the Volunteer Coordinator of any concerns and monthly individual contacts

About You

  • Awareness of issues affecting LGBT+ individuals
  • Understand different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media
  • Able to communicate effectively, articulate, with good writing skills and the ability to feedback accurately
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of using Mail Chimp
  • Reliable, respectful, sensitive and caring
  • Respectful of confidentiality issues and maintain professional boundaries
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines and know when to seek support
  • To provide information to regulatory and statutory bodies as required in accordance with our Safeguarding, Confidentiality and Hate Crime Reporting Procedures
