The main aim of Website Editor Volunteer is to improve communication, maximise impact and promote ourselves as widely as possible to the local and wider LGBT+ communities.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and promote the aims of Kroma using the internet
  • Maintain the website in content and structure ensuring communication reaches a wide range of local stakeholders and a diverse audience
  • Inform people about LGBT+ communities concerns and issues that may be faced locally, nationally and internationally from outside sources
  • Use the website to promote the activities and achievements of Kroma
  • Attend meetings and liaise with all volunteers such as social media and newsletter editor volunteers
  • Track the effectiveness of the website and recommend ways forward, testing content and reviewing its impact
  • Keeping up to date with Kroma events and news and choosing what to promote
  • Develop pages to target LGBT+ communities who are under-represented
  • Signpost and support individuals to relevant organisations
  • To encourage reporting of all hate crime incidents and notify as per Hate Crime Policy
  • To notify the Volunteer Coordinator of any concerns and monthly individual contacts

About You

  • Awareness of issues affecting LGBT+ individuals
  • Knowledge of website creation and design
  • Creative flair to give the site an attractive look
  • Able to communicate effectively, articulate, with good writing skills and the ability to feedback accurately
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of using WordPress or other web based packages
  • Reliable, respectful, sensitive and caring
  • Respectful of confidentiality issues and maintain professional boundaries
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines and know when to seek support
  • To provide information to regulatory and statutory bodies as required in accordance with our Safeguarding, Confidentiality and Hate Crime Reporting Procedures

Please note this opportunity is unpaid, and it is for students who undertake compulsory placements as part of their course.
