The main aim of Social Media Volunteer is to promote, develop and maintain our online presence in order to maximise our impact and promote ourselve as widely as possible to the local and wider LGBT+ communities.

Responsibilities

  • Promote aims of Kroma, activities, events and achievements of Kroma using social media
  • Help create and maintain a social media plan and keeping social media channels updated frequently on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and You Tube
  • Encouraging others to comment on our posts and share them with others
  • Ensure communications reaches a diverse audience and wide range of local stakeholders, testing content and impact and track effectiveness of our social media and recommend ways forward
  • Develop publicity materials to target LGBT+ communities who are under-represented
  • Visit our projects and attend our events with view to writing articles about them
  • Signpost and support individuals to relevant organisations
  • To encourage reporting of all hate crime incidents and notify as per Hate Crime Policy
  • To notify the Volunteer Coordinator of any concerns and monthly individual contacts

About You

  • Awareness of issues affecting LGBT+ individuals
  • Understand different types of marketing and communications media, including electronic and social media
  • Able to communicate effectively, articulate, with good writing skills and the ability to feedback accurately
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to transform small snippets of information into interesting and engaging posts via social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Mail Chimp and Buffer
  • Reliable, respectful, sensitive and caring
  • Respectful of confidentiality issues and maintain professional boundaries
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative and know when to seek support

Please note this opportunity is unpaid, and it is for students who undertake compulsory placements as part of their course.
