A broad and busy role based in a small, independent events company. This could be the perfect position for a Year 1 Marketing student looking for immediate on the job experience, and 2nd year placement. Whilst not essential, an interest in events/sports would be desirable.


  • Overall responsibility for managing 15+ social media accounts through ‘Buffer’
  • Overall responsibility for e-newsletters through ‘MailChimp’ software
  • Overall responsibility for Press Releases for the Hampshire Chronicle, Southern Daily Echo and The Daily Echo
  • Create and continuously develop annual Marketing Planner
  • Overall responsibility for Lead Pages
  • Liaise with all key stakeholders; including event specific coordinators and communications liaison
  • Develop understanding of key Sponsors, Charities and corporate teams
  • Close collaboration with other members of the events team to source content for all marketing
  • Data Analyses through Facebook and Google
  • Work as part of the events team in: the build up to; the preparation for; the day of; and wind down from; events. (Including: ABP Southampton Marathon, Winchester Half, Triathlons and Sailing Week). This will involve supporting the operational team with delivery. (Not compulsory if you are unavailable for events, but great experience for you!)
  • Develop automated campaigns
  • Management of marketing budget
  • Assess marketing spend
  • Develop PR contacts list in both regional and national areas of interest
  • Collating information for reports
  • To be a flexible and supportive member of the team
  • Communicating to customers/ participants in a timely manner across a variety of media platforms about new and current events
  • Attend and take part in team meetings
  • Commit to professional development and attend regular reviews with line manager
  • Adhere to all Rees Leisure policies and procedures
  • Ad hoc duties as requested by management
  • Promote business in a positive manner
  • Assist with GDPR compliance
  • Work towards Annual targets of growth in data lists and conversions to sign ups

About You

  • We are particularly looking for a dynamic and pro-active individual, preferably a 1st year Marketing student looking for experience over the next few months, ahead of 2nd year placement with ReesLeisure; OR a 2nd year looking for further experience now and throughout final year of university where studies allow.
