Graduate VAT Trainee

To assist the VAT Team in providing advice to clients, colleagues and other firms of accountants, whilst studying for the VAT Compliance Diploma and then continuing onto the ATT-CTA Tax Pathway Qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tax computations and returns
  • Prepare simple financial analysis and summary statements
  • Applying for VAT registrations and overseeing the successful completion of the application process including VAT groups and options to tax
  • Dealing with other tax registration documents for personal and corporate taxes
  • Handling new client set-up procedures including anti-money laundering checks
  • Assistance with procedures relating to VAT visits including liaising with clients and H M Revenue & Customs
  • Deal with tax administration including the monitoring of filing deadlines
  • Ad hoc tax research and analysis
  • Develop and strengthen client relationships

  • Comfortable working with figures, accurate and understand the significance of calculations
  • A sense of fun and a desire to succeed
  • a 2:1 degree in any discipline (obtained or predicted)
  • 280 UCAS points, excluding general studies (obtained or predicted in the same year)
  • Grade B or above in Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent
