TÜV SÜD Product Service is the UK’s leading testing laboratory which provides a range of testing and certification services aimed at ensuring that manufacturer’s products are safe, reliable and compliant. The company operates in a range of different industries, testing anything from everyday consumer products, to state-of-the-art electronics, critical life-saving medical devices to specialised aerospace equipment.

Located at our offices in Fareham, you will be working as part of the project management team managing client and business expectations during the course of projects to ensure they meet contractual deliverables and timescales. The role requires the management of project costs within budget, technical project preparation, keeping customers abreast of progress during testing, and ensuring that reports and certificates are delivered on time. This particular role primarily involves managing EMC testing projects.

This role would suit anyone with a background in electrical/electronic engineering knowledgeable in EMC testing, who is a good communicator with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and has a commitment to getting the job done.

Responsibilities

  • Managing client’s expectations, both technically and commercially, during the course of their projects
  • Commercial management of projects to achieve sales budgets and profit targets, ensuring that profit margins are preserved and any issues affecting profitability are resolved
  • Acting as principal intermediary between the client and the operating areas from the beginning to the end of both single discipline and one-stop projects
  • Management of projects ensuring on time and accurate delivery of contractual deliverables
  • Organisation of subcontract testing and specialist equipment hire
  • Ensuring projects are booked on facility plans and that facility plans are kept up-to-date
  • Working with the test supervisors to ensure the timely delivery of test samples and supporting documentation, smooth workflow and problem solving
  • Ensuring forecasts are kept current and up-to-date by using the business project management tool
  • Prompt and accurate invoicing at the earliest opportunities during each month
  • Ensuring full and compliant use of business tools
  • Visiting clients as and when required
  • Supporting LEAN/quality initiatives to improve workflow and business productivity
  • Any other duties which may be reasonably required to support project delivery and business performance

About You

  • A minimum of HNC in Engineering, or equivalent experience or qualification
  • In depth knowledge of EMC testing
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and voluntary compliance requirements for products
  • Track record of exercising a good balance between technical judgment and commercial awareness
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload based on client and business requirements
  • A broad understanding of all business activities and relevant technologies
  • A team player with a positive “can-do” attitude and a proactive approach to self-development
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
