The Compass Kitchen is a new restaurant/bar opening in Southampton very soon. We are currently recruiting for waiting and bar staff.

Waiting Staff:

Responsibilities

You will play a key role in delivering excellent presentation of the food and drink available and promote the highest quality of customer service.

  • Having good knowledge of and being familiar with our menu
  • Greeting customers as they arrive and showing them to their tables
  • Introducing customers to the menu and announcing any daily menu specials
  • Answering questions about the menu, ingredients and/or pricing
  • Taking orders for food/drink and passing them to appropriate members of staff
  • Preparing drinks and serving food
  • Collection of food from the kitchen, making sure every meal is correct and is served to the customer in a polite and professional manner
  • Ensuring customers are satisfied with their meals
  • Removal of any used dishes or glassware from tables
  • Preparing and delivering bills
  • Processing cash and card payments
  • Making sure your work space is presentable
  • Insuring all tables are clean and tidy at all times

Bar Staff:

Responsibilities

You will play a key role in delivering excellent presentation of the drinks we have available and promote the highest quality of customer service.

  • Preparing alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for the bar and restaurant
  • Interacting with customers
  • Taking orders
  • Serving snacks and drinks
  • Assessing customers’ needs and preferences, whilst being able to make appropriate recommendations
  • Mixing appropriate ingredients to prepare cocktails
  • Presenting the bar menu to customers
  • Checking customers’ identification and confirming it meets legal drinking age
  • Restocking and replenishing bar supplies
  • Complying with all food and beverage regulations

  • Experience in the same or similar working environments
  • Team player qualities, but can work independently
  • Knowledge of alcohol restrictions and health/safety regulations
  • Knowledge of the food and beverage industry
