Student Standing Panel Member

Quality Management is looking to recruit students to be paid members on the course approval and revalidation teams.

These roles will allow you to get involved in the planning and review stages of course development, while building upon your transferable skills for the all-important CV and employability prospects.

By working in the role, you’ll be able to input to the overall student experience as well as developing your own skills in interpretation, evaluation, analysis, effective communication and team working.

The deadline for this role is Monday 15th October, so you’ll need to be quick if you’re interested.

This job role involves you in the course development process. With each panel you participate in you will receive £150 and for any additional courses that go through in a suite you will receive £100 on top.

The majority of panels take place online via Solent Online Learning forums however we sometimes hold physical meetings which you are expected to attend when being a panel member.

You will be expected to review the provided documentation and provide your feedback within the given time frame.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To be a member of the course development team and provide support in a developmental manner giving an independent view on the currency of the curriculum and design
  • To assist in the production of the required course documentation, outlined in paragraph 21, section 2D Approval Monitoring and Review of University Provision policy of the Solent University’s Academic Handbook, as directed by the Team Leader
  • To review the submitted course approval documentation giving an independent view on the currency of the curriculum, design and clarity of the documentation
  • Produce a report providing commentary in a developmental manner, within the agreed timeframes
  • To assess whether the course documentation meets all the criteria set out in paragraph 33, section 2D Approval Monitoring and Review of University Provision policy of Solent University’s Academic Handbook
  • To assess whether the course enhances the curriculum, particularly around current expectations and sector practice, and that it ensures a positive student experience 
  • To assess whether the course curriculum and design secures the academic standards of the award
  • To liaise with the Chair regarding approval outcome, areas of good practice and any conditions and/or recommendations
  • To attend meetings where required as directed by the Chair
  • Any other duties commensurate with being a student panel member
