The idea of World Stories is brought about by KidsOut (the fun and happiness charity). World Stories is a growing collection of stories from around the world, which includes retold traditional tales and new short stories in the 20 languages most spoken by UK children. These stories help us understand each other and learn about other cultures, as well as celebrating our own traditions and culture. But most of all they are fun! We also have audio version for multiple stories on the site.

  • This exciting project is looking for volunteers who could produce and edit audio books.
  • The ideal candidate would also have the proper equipment and suitable location.
  • You will be working with volunteer storytellers whose voices will be recorded.

  • In return for your hard work, our aim is to put your story on the online website for children and schools to access and read.
  • We will also give credit by posting a biography of you on our contributor’s page.
  • Once the project is more developed, schools will be using your work as teaching resources, thus you will be contributing to the children’s learning of languages. It will be a standout on your CV.
  • The travel expenses are going to be paid by KidsOut.

Volunteers need to be able to get to KidsOut office in Leighton Buzzard for interview or be able to arrange a time for an informal phone interview. The actual translating can be done at home or in the office, whichever is most convenient for the volunteer.
